Postnatal Physiotherapy Tips for New Mothers
Child birth is an important event in parents’ lives,
especially when it is their first child; but it can have significant changes on
mother’s body. Right from hormonal changes to stretches in the internal organs
(abdomen and pelvic floor) and outer skins, woman goes through lot of physical
changes during pregnancy. It is very important to go for postnatal
physiotherapy, because it can not only help strengthen the muscles which have
been stretched by pregnancy and birth but also prevent backpain, promote
correct posture and help regain figure more quickly.
Here are few tips & physiotherapy exercises for new
mothers:

Pelvic exercises help in tightening the lower
abdominal muscles and pelvic floor. It is very simple and easy to do exercise,
where you have to squeeze your pelvic and can be done by lying on the floor.
This doesn’t take more than 5-10 minutes.

Elbow to knee lifts can be better than the
regular abs exercises. Gently bring one elbow and opposite knee together, then
do it for other sides. This can out lot of pressure on stomach and lower
abdominal muscles.

Sit-Ups can be very basic yet very effective
exercise. While laying on your back on flat surface, try to sit up while
keeping your feet touched to the ground. This can be really good exercise to
reduce the tummy.

Take care of your back, because new moms lift
lot of things and bend their back more than usual. Try the correct posture when
you are lifting something, stretch your back at regular intervals.

Drink more water and go for small walks if weather
permits. If you have inhouse gym, you can use treadmill for walk.
